Another review for Shark

…an interestingly different project which turns on the axis of jazz and funk, combining in a surprisingly natural way an exquisite lyricism with energised pure rhythm. On the one hand, beautiful arrangements and arresting melodies. On the other, deep funk, drawing you closer to contemporary club culture. Daringly personal, (and) completely accessible.

Dos nuevas críticas para Shark

Este verano pasado oí una banda fabulosa a Platja d’Aro. Estaba entusiasmado con este sonido vital y crujiente, que por cierto, reproducen perfectamente en su nuevo cd. Nunca he oído nada parecido…Shark te agarran y no te sueltan.

Thanks to Thomas Gallion for the review he left on the CD Baby webpage:

I've heard this fantastic jazz band live on stage at the beach of Platja d'Aro in Spain in summer 2008 and I was absolutely enthusiastic about that lively and crunchy sound which - by the way - is reproduced on CD in facsimile.
Never heard such a rousing and funky jazz band before and so I'm was happy to get this CD from CD-Baby-Nice-Guys-and-Gals. Thanks a lot !
But back to the band. Shark seize you and never lets you go. These mesmerizing drum beats - dry as a bone - force you to move your body. Check it out for yourselves, you' ll not regret.

Pandillero's First Single: Peineta

Peineta is the first single from the new Manero blockbuster, Pandilleros and refers to a street gang that are gradually taking over the hi-rise housing estates that line up along Barcelona's ring road, breaking up the communities and reeking havoc.

Ray, one of the brothers central to the Pandilleros' story line, after seeing that he has no other options, ends up joining the gang in a desperate attempt to get ahead. Soon he will become the right-hand man of the gang's degenerate leader, the merciless Cucamonga

Spanish Funk Goes One Step Beyond

La Fundación Tony Manero, Spain's leading reference in funk has just brought out PANDILLEROS. This is a sound track for the best action thriller you've never seen. Never? Well, yes. The film doesn't exist. But the sound track most definately does. This is the story of two brothers in a Barcelona sink estate, who get tangled up with the gang violence that riddled Spanish society in the late 70's. Dialogues included in the music and a comic which come with the cd keep you up with events as they unfold in the music. The band are currently working on a simulation of the story in a tour of Spanish theatres, later this year...
